TRUMP Surged Over 75% On Rumors Of A New Coin, The Team Sold $3.39M During The Spike

Eric Trump called the rumors of a new token a fraud, flatly, in five words that left no room for interpretation while the existing TRUMP coin surged.

    .

But while the denial was landing on timelines everywhere, on-chain trackers were watching something else entirely: wallets tied to the Trump team steadily converting TRUMP tokens into millions of dollars in stablecoins, right in the middle of the very rally the denial was supposed to calm down.

The Selling Pattern On-Chain Trackers Are Watching

Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain flagged the activity directly, reporting that the Trump team has been selling TRUMP by adding and removing liquidity, a method that lets large holders offload tokens gradually without triggering the kind of visible price impact a straight market sell would cause. According to their tracking, over the past 10 hours alone, the team has received 3.39 million USDC from these TRUMP sales.

TRUMP Surged Over 75% On Rumors Of A New Coin, The Team Sold $3.39M During The SpikeI think the mechanics here matter as much as the dollar figure. Adding and removing liquidity to extract value is a genuinely different signal than a simple wallet-to-exchange transfer. It suggests a deliberate, ongoing process of realizing gains during a period of elevated demand, rather than a one-time cash-out decision. And the timing is what makes this genuinely newsworthy: this selling was happening during precisely the window when speculation about a brand-new Trump-linked token was pushing the existing ones sharply higher.

How A Rumor Sent Trump-Linked Tokens Surging

The rally itself traces back to a viral post from the account WhaleScan, which declared that Donald Trump was “officially” about to launch a new coin, adding that the account would be first to call it, just as it claimed to have done with his previous token. That post carried no announcement, no ticker, and no contract address, but it was enough to move markets fast. TRUMP jumped as much as 40% and MELANIA gained double digits over the following 24 hours, with reports pointing to a mysterious token called WWW, or “Truth Coin,” that had appeared on Robinhood Chain, tied to a wallet that received roughly 290 ETH and briefly reached a market value near $10.24 million.

TRUMP Surged Over 75% On Rumors Of A New Coin, The Team Sold $3.39M During The Spike

I think it’s worth being clear-eyed about how thin the actual evidence was here. No confirmed announcement backed any of it, just unusual wallet activity, a viral thread, and a market more than willing to buy first and ask questions later. Over the past week, TRUMP itself climbed more than 75% on the strength of that speculation alone, a genuinely enormous move for a token with no confirmed news behind it.

    Eric Trump’s Blunt, Five-Word Denial

Eric Trump shut the rumor down directly and without hedging. In a post on X, he wrote plainly: “What a joke… This is absolutely not true. No one is launching any kind of coin. If anyone is suggesting otherwise, it’s a fraud.”

I don’t think there’s much ambiguity left in that wording. It’s not a careful non-denial or a “no comment,” it’s a direct rejection paired with a warning that anyone claiming otherwise is running a scam. That kind of clarity is genuinely useful for a family brand that’s had its own accounts hijacked before to promote fraudulent tokens, and it’s consistent with how Eric Trump has handled similar situations previously, including warning users away from a fake token called Restore the Republic back in August 2024 that briefly pulled in more than $155 million before collapsing once he intervened.

Why The Selling And The Denial Sit Uncomfortably Together

Here’s where I think this story earns its real edge. A flat denial of any new token launch is one thing. Watching wallets tied to the existing TRUMP token quietly extract millions in stablecoins during the exact rally that denial was meant to cool down is another thing entirely, and the two developments don’t contradict each other technically, but they do sit uncomfortably close together.

TRUMP Surged Over 75% On Rumors Of A New Coin, The Team Sold $3.39M During The Spike

Nothing about converting TRUMP into USDC through liquidity operations is inherently improper, token holders sell for all kinds of reasons, and there’s no confirmed evidence tying this specific selling activity to any coordinated plan around the rumor itself. But the optics are genuinely difficult to ignore: a rumor pushes the price up, a public figure denies any new launch is coming, and in that same window, insiders are converting a meaningful chunk of the existing token into stable value. For anyone who bought into the rally on the belief that more Trump-linked upside was imminent, that combination is worth sitting with.

A Pattern That Keeps Repeating Itself

I don’t think this is really an isolated event, it fits a pattern that’s shown up before with Trump-adjacent tokens specifically. TRUMP itself launched on Solana back in January 2025 and is now trading more than 95% below its all-time high above $73, even after catching fresh attention recently around a top-holder gala hosted by the president. MELANIA has followed a similar trajectory. Separately, World Liberty Financial, co-founded by Donald Trump and his sons, is currently tied up in legal disputes with Tron founder Justin Sun in federal court, adding yet another layer of complication to the broader Trump crypto ecosystem beyond just these memecoins.

TRUMP Surged Over 75% On Rumors Of A New Coin, The Team Sold $3.39M During The Spike

What connects all of these threads is a recurring dynamic: genuine excitement and speculation driving real capital into Trump-branded tokens, followed by outcomes that have repeatedly left later buyers holding losses while those closer to the source extracted value earlier in the cycle. This latest episode, a denied launch paired with active selling of the existing token, looks like another data point in that same pattern rather than something fundamentally new.

What This Means For Anyone Still Watching These Tokens

I think the practical lesson here is straightforward, even if the underlying situation is messy. Eric Trump’s denial should be taken at face value as the closest thing to an official statement available, no credible evidence currently supports a new Trump family token launch, and screenshots of test contracts or unverified wallet activity are not confirmation of anything. At the same time, the on-chain reality of TRUMP holders extracting millions in value during a rumor-driven rally is exactly the kind of detail that deserves scrutiny independent of whether the rumor itself turns out to be true.

For anyone considering buying into Trump-linked token speculation going forward, I’d treat this episode as a genuinely useful case study: a viral, unverified claim with zero official backing was enough to move markets by double digits within hours, while some of the largest holders of the existing token were simultaneously cashing out. That’s not proof of coordinated wrongdoing, but it’s a pattern worth remembering the next time a similar rumor starts circulating.
